Roelof Chris Monty Pat Eddie Dick Graham Roelof was born on February 6, 1959. He studied classical music at Twents Conservatory. Roelof studied saxophone with Francois Daneels and clarinet with Azgam Gibadulin, from Brussels and Kiev respectively. Roelof started playing as a youngster, and formed a big band and various small groups. His favorite music has always been swing of the 30s, 40s, and 50s. His favorite musicians are clarinetists Hank D'Amico and Artie Shaw, and alto saxophonists Jimmy Dorsey and Dick Stabile. In 2010, Roelof founded the R.P. Swing-Orchestra. Roelof is also a member of the Gipsy Trio La Manouche. In 2019, Roelof visited Japan and Korea and worked with the Forestone Saxophone Company in Osaka. He is currently working on a project with American trumpeter Don D'Amico, the son of legendary clarinetist Hank D'Amico.
