An International Big Band Founded by Roelof in 2010, The R.P. Swing-Orchestra is in every respect truly an international orchestra. The orchestra plays in the style made famous during the 30s and 40s by bandleaders including Charlie Barnet, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw as well as many other well known bands of the golden age of swing. Hits by European bandleaders are also featured in the orchestra's repertoire. The main goal which bandleader Roelof Posthumus strives for is to present swing music of the highest quality to the public. He has selected the finest professional musicians from Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, Poland, Spain, Great Britain and the USA.
Performances feature famous big band numbers in the style of Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw and Glenn Miller, to the virtuosic pieces and hits of European big bands including Willy Berking, Alix Combelle and Jean Omer, just to name a few.
The Orchestra prefers to perform "unplugged" so that all the instruments join together to achieve a full sound and so that the natural tone quality of the soloists can be enjoyed by the audience.
